does this effect work?

Trying out different techniques, just wondering does this work okay on people or is it too over the top.

The effect works for me, it gives it a real gritty street feel. Not sure about the composition of the shot though.

HDR? I think the processing is quite nice but there seems to be a bit of a halo effect around the guys.

Agree with Joe...Like the effect but maybe a different composition would be better?

Works for me too, as a grtty street render, even the halo doesnt really detract for once. My only problem with the composition is the pole at the top of the shot, without it it would be brill, but difficult if not impossible to get rid of I think.

Nope sorry, too much of a digital procesed look. The glow is really destracting.

Yes its HDR , i guess you either hate or love it. It seemed to suit this picture more than the others i took..

I like the shot and I like the look too. I agree that the HDR halo is a bit of a negative to the shots impact. I think that you could probably get much the same look without HDR if you have a good enough RAW file. Doesn't seem to me that the tone range will exceed what you can do with just one file to work from.
