POTY 2010 - Round 6 - Lighting: Natural (Entries)

Welcome to the 2010 Talk|Photography Photographer Of The Year Competition.

The year the themes are going to based on photographic techniques. As with previous years the theme for the month will be posted in a thread similar to this which will be where you can post your ENTRIES only. There will also be a thread for DISCUSSION of the theme. The deadline for entries is the 11:59pm on the last day of the month, shortly after that a POLL will be made for you to vote for you favourite entries that month. This process will then repeat each month with a leader board created at the end of the year. The winner of each month will receive a prize (which will be shown in the ENTRIES thread). The member with the most votes at the end of the year will win the coveted TP POTY Trophy.



So on with the competition;

The theme this month is
'Lighting: Natural'

A bit of an odd one this month, wasn't sure how strict or open to be with this theme, it started off a natural light portrait, but that seemed very limiting, and not everyone would maybe have a chance to do a portrait. So I have left this pretty wide open, it could be a natural light portrait or it could be anything lit by natural light...which could obviously extend to any sort of landscape shot, but as always how well you meet the theme it judge by your fellow members.

As this theme covers a wide range of possible ideas a list of examples could take up a LOT of space in this post, so get your googling fingers out and see what you can find to inspire yourself.

I was lucky enough to capture a double rainbow (just), taken during a sudden cloudburst at the Louvre:

I took this image of some fake flowers on my bedroom. I used natural lighting here, because the sun was shining right into them to create a nice backlight. I shut the blind, to create a slightly nicer background and this also diffused the harsh sunlight.

This was taken at Southerndown on the heritage coast just as the last light faded and nightime begins....leaving these beautiful hues.
A lone figure walks his dog along the beach and I thought the footprints would serve as a great little lead in.
