View Full Version : Bath Meet: 14th August

Seems to be a lot more people on here from Bath and the general area these days. Anyone up for some sort of meet? Plenty to do and shoot in town. If people want to learn stuff I'm quite happy to offer some targetted tuition too.

Roman Baths are open late until the end of August I think, so they are generally less full of tourists although you will need permission to use a tripod.

Botanical Gardens are lovely any time of the year.

Canal and River.

Bounteous amounts of parks.

Good skylines for sunset shots.

Great Architecture.

Who'd be up for it? Then we can think of dates!

I would be very interested and would be happy to act as nominated driver for anyone else from around here (Reading) that would like to go. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see what develops. Thanks for suggesting this :)

Sounds like a good idea to me - count me in. I'm in Somerset, but fancy some cityscape work as a change from landscape.

Great. So then, Weekend in August? I'm free all month currently so name your preferred dates!

I'd be interested in coming along too (I'm about 20 miles from Bath). Middle to end of August would be best for me but I can be fairly flexible as long as I know far enough in advance to earn enough brownie points to be allowed out!

Either first or second weekend in august would be best for me. I'm heading back to uni around the end of august, so don't want to miss it :)

Would prefer first or second weekend in August too. I'm not around at the end of August.

Thanks.

I am interested. However I am also moving house "soon", having agreed a sale and purchase. Consequently I wont commit to anything as I might suddenly find I'm completing the day before ...

I would be up for this during early/mid august. I'm available Saturday and Sunday.

A great place for photography in Bath is Prior Park Gardens.

David, You're more than welcome to crash at mine (house of loonies) if its more conveneient and helps with train times? I'm sure Woodsy will be anyways.

Anyways.......

Shall we say either sat 14th or sat 21st of August?

My preference is for the 14th. Early start, As early as you can feasibly get here so we can nobble some of the more central stuff before the touroids erupt onto the streets. Then its goint to be a case of keeping it up til sunset I'm afraid!

Theres plenty of good quality, (relatively) cheap eateries in Bath. Mucho pubs etc so I'm sure it will be entertaining whatever the the weather.

Once we've settled on a date and have numbers I'll get in touch with the council and try and sort access for the Baths after dark/sunset (we need permission to use tripods) unless of course you are happy doing what I did and improvising with my camera bag!

Cool. Right, 14th August it is then!

Should be fun times!

I'll have a play with the ephemeris and See whats looking good at what times. If anybody fancies doing sunrise, I know some good spots, but it will be bloody early!

Sunrise....me....not a chance! Plus it's a 2 hour drive for me to get to Bath.
I'm happy to take someones mobile number and meet up with you all later on in the morning though.

Spence mate... If it'd be possible to impose myself upon your generous hospitality for two nights, I'd happily join you for both sunrise and sunset!

Aye, No probs Woodsy. I'll have moved house by then, but its only 100Yds up the road lol.

Which leads me onto.....

I'm not goingto have net access until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, so I will update then.

See you all soon!

Hi Gandhi,

I may be interested in this, if you can confirm times. We are on holiday the week after so it depends on the tasks I have to complete.

Had a day in Bath yesterday (Thursday 24th) but with a friend and Wives so only my GF1 to record photos of our day. Went to see Dreamboats and Petticoats in the evening, great show!

Regards

Chris

I think it's fairly safe to assume that at least some people will be out all day; from sunrise to sunset. Therefor you can turn up when you want and leave when you want etc.

I've decided to pull out of this one, I didn't realise it was the same weekend that I've organised the meet at Barnes Wetland Center on the Sunday. I don't think I can get away with two full days togging. Sorry guys, hope to meet you all another time.

Ah well, a couple of drop outs are to be expected ahhahahahahah.

Anyways, Just to let you all know, I have my internet access back at home now, so I will plan some sort of rough itinerary over the weekend and post it up here monday or tuesday.

Does anybody have any preference over what sort of stuff they want to shoot. My thing is architecture and land/cityscapes bit if people want to shoot people then i'm down with that also.

Hi Gandhi,

I'm into landscapes, cityscapes and architecture rather than people. Have you had any thoughts about a programme for the day yet? My son will probably come with me too.
