Just spending a little time in CS3 revisting a few past shots. Does anyone have any preference between these 2 - or perhaps neither works for you. All comments appreciated

I think the colour one is nice, but in the B&W you just lose that lovely colour in the sky and it looks too flat.
The first needs a touch more saturation and contrast for my taste, and the second a little more contrast too.
Good subjects for HDR maybe?

Doug,
To be honest my original post is made from 2 tiffs converted from a single RAW, one for the sky & one for the rest. The original shot had too much Dynamic range & was impossible to convert on its own.
Your effort shows further possibilities with the shadows but it's lost some of the detail I was trying to recover in the sky - I think I should have another go with the RAW file
thanks
simon
I can actually see a 'halo' type effect around the building etc....probably where you have merged the 2 tiffs.

Yes, I noticed it too - isn't quite so obvious in the tiff than it is in this jpg, still there though
I'm definitely having another go at this one as I really like this shot, I have another very similiar one on my website, but taken in much more subdued/overcast lighting conditions
thanks

From your originally posted two, I prefer the black and white - the colour does nothing for the pic. However, possibilities glimpsed in the edit, hehe - maybe, like you said, if you play with the tiff a little more the colours will come out :o)
Yep, the B&W for me, but it does need a bit more processing possibly, more contrast?

Had a quick play, I hope you don't mind - just shout and I'll take it down.
Contrast boost, virtual photographer 'detailed' PS filter, a little bit of Paint With Light II action. A bit of a rush job, but you get the idea.
EDIT - Oops, you beat me to the B&W version. Your re-edit is a big improvement, nice one.

Definitely black and white for me, especially the second version.
Michael.
