View Full Version : A country lane

As I walked along this country lane near Churchtown, Lancashire, this afternoon, with cow parsley and may blossom lining my way, I looked up at the clouds and understood why the English painter, John Constable, spent much of his life trying to capture their transient beauty. Moreover, it beat the hell out of watching THAT soccer match :-)

Fantastic clouds! Love the colour and composition. Horizon looks a tad off, a bit high on the right - but that's a minor niggle, I'm a Virgo

Thanks for the comment Dark Star. This was pretty much a "snatched" shot - I don't usually go for symmetry in landscapes. However, it was a very windy day and the clouds were moving fast, but looking good, so I fired off some quick shots of which this was the best.

Super shot Tony, The formation of the clouds show that it was windy, also the rich colour of the green`s along with the white Cow parsley (we call it Hew- Bennit in lincolnshire) balance the image well.

Thanks for the further comments on this one. Janice, that's me behind the third bush on the left :) . TW5, thanks for that bit of Lincolnshire info. It might come in useful - I'm just negotiating on a property down there as we speak! I once read that "clouds are the mountains of the lowlands", and clouds like these make you see the truth of that remark.
