Another one from my re-editing efforts. Does it work with the lens flare ?

I like it. I've always been a quiet fan of lens flare. It may be frowned upon in 'professional' circles, but I like the atmosphere it brings. In this instance, I like the colours in the flare and how the lines cut sharply across the image - it helps give the viewer an idea of just how sparkling the sunset was.

I like the lens flare but I'm not sure about the rest of the picture.
The composition is cracking, but it feels like there's too much HDR going on. I'm not sure if it has been HDR'd but it just has that over-processed, almost computer rendered look about it.
Maybe it's just me.

I know what you mean about HDR, I'm not a big fan either - I agree with you that this probably does look a little false. It's not exactly HDR but a combination of 2 Tiffs taken from the original RAW (one exposed for sky the other for land).
The original single file is unuseable due to the wide dynamic range. I have several shots taken in similar conditions & I'm currently "playing" in CS3 to see if I can recover some otherwise lost shots - sometimes they work & sometimes they don't, this probably doesn't
thanks

Excuse my possible ignorance, hehe - I've seen the term 'HDR' a few times on this forum; what's it referring to?

LOL, I know what you mean when you say 'playing in CS3' - thats what I've been doing today trying to get detail out of blow sky/underexposed landscape - I'm certainly no expert and I found a lot of mine started to look very false the more I tinkered with them.
I quite like your shot though and the flare does'nt seem to distract from the image too much IMO. :)
I have 2 images with lens flare..both as recorded not added in ps, I like HDR overdone..dunno why I just do, we are all different.

Agreed. The image doesn't seem quite right. I'm not a fan of the flare either, don't feel it adds to the shot if its been PS'd in. Lens flare can work really well in some instances but I don't think this is one.
the original image, the housething on the right is too far right, if it was positioned on the third or nearer it would have been better i think

Thanks everyone for the feedback/comments - very useful.
I've decided to give up on this one, added the location to my list for a revisit - I'll try & get the shot correct "in-camera" next time
