I'm interested as to what you feel generally is 'allowed' or not when it comes to over processing techniques.
The slight curves from the 18mm lens gave me the hint... so I used the pinch tool at -24 to swell the entrance etc.
I think this works ok, considering the girl and seat area seems almost unaffected.
I'd be interested to know what you think?

This has been heavily light filled and pushed in several other areas... is this acceptable to your eye ... or simply shows too many flaws …kinda thing?
Please excuse the sensor dirt.

All thought and comments are acceptable. :D
The 2nd one is too much imho.
I honestly wouldn't have noticed the first was a shopped effort except for maybe the steps, I thought it was the diner 'built' that way!
Kinda like the first, but the gal on the stool is .. not sure, but not quite right.
Processing good ***.
2nd Looks like a shot down a pier...
Whatcha done to it... doesnt apier to be much :groan:

:D
Just the way she’s slumping OG?
The second shot is a buildings windows reflections across a dock...it’s not a pier or jetty. ...processed to look like a pier though.
...the real scene was far more 'over sunny bright' than this shows, less saturation and contrast etc.
Steep, that’s good then. :D
Pete, I'm surprised you'd say that being an hdr man, :D ..Would you describe what gets at you?
The first shot is fine, the second shot is pushed to much. Its like trying to get a good print from a bad neg. I like the idea with the send shot. Possibly better ways to get around it e.g layers, HDR?
First shot is great. Makes me think of mid-west usa. The processing works really well but It might be worth masking the steps so they stay straight? just a thought really.
The second is deffo overcooked, very faint halos around the edges, bit oversturated and the processing has introduced quite a lot of noise into the sky.
What did the original looky likey?

Yep that’s kinda what I was thinking, I pushed more to attenuate the reflection rather than because it wasn't right, then tried to balance it somehow... same logic applies though, thanks for your thoughts Ally.

Wish I'd put up a link to the original tiff now....I wouldn’t have to go back and redo mine then.
 Fab guys, can't decide which I prefer more now... somewhere between the two possibly. ..I think CT has done my kinda thing with the contrast so I'll pick that one... just. :D
Nothing more than adjusting levels and such like guys..? I really need to calm down when it comes to processing...too many choices and no idea. ;) :D
LOL. Mines a HDR Adam fudged from Spencer's second attempt. Created 3 Tiffs from that jpeg.

Interesting couple of pics Adam - the first I definitely like and hadn't realised it had been shopped until I read the words - and it works for me.
2nd I liked but I think CT's version has the edge by a cat's whisker, but then I look at the orginal and think yours is better, then I look at CT's...well you get the picture!

What I normally do Adam is very Rule of Thumb. :D
Save the first jpeg as a Tiff 'as is'
I save the second Tiff with the gamma reduced to 0.70 (1.00 being neutral) then undo the gamma change.
Save the third Tiff with gamma increased to 1.30.
Then open all three pics in Photomatix.
I find keeping those gamma changes works well for most pics unless the original is unusually light or dark, then I'll alter the amounts accordingly, but it's very much a guestimate.

Took me a while to find the gamma slider ... help files... ....but eventually I found the 'image ready' software package that came with AdobeP7 :bang: ... I just forgot it was their. :(
I've learnt lots guy’s thanks.
Very usefull to have been introduced to gamma Cedric...spot on advice mate.
My HDR, blend and fiddled version. ...with a crop for effect....hopefully anyhow.
No plane ;) ... but I do like those people! :p ;)
