My first few uploaded from the latest round off the BSB, difficult conditions at times. will be uploading a few 100 later tonight on my gallery, but thought id share these couple as a flavour of what to expect. C&C much welcome with regard to levels etc etc, before main load. Hope you enjoy

Nice!

What lense did you use for these?

Has your camera picked up some dirt? Looks like a few artifacts on the 1st and 3rd pics...

I can't talk, I have similar from this weekend...

All with the Canon 7-200mm f2.8 IS how ever every shot here was taken with Canon 2x and 1.4x tc's stacked together

And yeah dust on the lens simply couldnt keep it clean for some reason, i haddnt noticed in the those pics until you pointed it out, after cleaning the monitor.

Nicely captured as those flames dont last for long.

Incredibly clear especially using staked T.C's  I would have thought that it would "degrade" the image a little?

Also am I right in thinking that you would lose a couple or 3 f/stops and the focal length would be IRO 680mm?

Thanks alot Dino, your right i had to turn the Shutter speed up a tad to get as i was too low and kept missing the dam things. Luckily they did it every lap, so managed to get at verious different speeds, but these little selection are imo the best speed for the feeling of speed.

I am currently building/uploading a new gallery but doubt ill publish it until tomorrow afternoon now.

I cant wait for the next round at Knockhill (hopefully, if not deffo Oulton again), cant make Mondelo, but Historic car racing this weekend is a usefull stop gap lol.

Your right you lose 3 f/stops, although the camera only see 2 off them, however you need to calculate the last one in as the iq is pants otherwise.

680? is that including crop factor, i thought it was 560mm at full range

I think the IS has help massively here, i was a sceptic, at first, but i am used to shooting at low speeds and long ranges without it using the Sigma but these have killed it in IQ at those ranges. Think my sniper training helps there.

The final PP image hasnt suffered at all, but i'll admit had a tad more un-sharp mask added, but i aint complaining about that.

.

Thanks for the answers,
I see how you got 560 2(x TC) x 200 x 1.4 (TC)
but what I did was 2x tc + 1,4 tc =3.4 x 200 =680
I guess it depends on how you work it out,
but I am not sure what is the correct way?.

You have lost some of the detail with the stacked TC's. I dunno what the light was like there, but it was randomly rubbish at Brands on the same day which clouds moving at quite a rate and some really annoying sunny patches at one point just where I was trying to snap, after having tracked them through darker bits!

Are these full frame or crops?

The Virgin Media is full frame no, the other have the slightest of crops to remove barriers/fences towards the bottomm of the frame, but it really is just a tad. Without stacking i was miles a away and was cropping alot of to get them that size, resulting in a lower IQ then these.

The light was very hit and miss, very sunny to very dark within a few seconds. I was in full manual mode but ended up giving up at one point and switched back to Tv mode as i was changing settings almost every 5th shot due to the changable weather.

Under the curcumstances and distance from the track i am very pleased with these, time for a 500mm, anyone got one going cheap???? lol

Nice shots again! Perhaps a tad dark on my (uncalibrated) monitor though.
I'll be at Oulton Park again in July, and maybe even Knockhill

Thanks guy's, thought it 560 dod (relief lol)

Bulb i have viewed them on several pcs at work and up the gym, there was one that showed them a tad dark, but i think there about right. Any-one else see-ing them dark?

The first one is slightly darker due to the black background and black of the bike, but i think that emphises (spelling alert) the flames more?

I cant make Mondelo of Donington, and possible Knokhill, but i'll be at all the other events, along with BSB at Brands maybe Moto GP and a few car events.

Ok Thanks Dod
So how does it work then?

So is the 2x TC x by the 1.4xTC = an effective TC of 2.8x then x 200 =560mm?

great shots, I did not think the quality would be that good with the stacked tc's.
