Hi guy’s, first time in here. Fairly inexperienced with this or any other camera, about 12 hours in total if you add it up ( I really should do more!)
I’d like you to tell me what’s right/ wrong with the settings I’ve used on these photos. I’ve been using auto since getting this camera, I’ve had a go at twiddling with the dials and buttons.
It was windy on the days that I took these.
I’m not asking for crit on the composition, they are only tests.
Auto-levelled and sharpened for web only.

Hmm there are too many to do all in depth but I'll take the first one:

It seems extremely noisy at ISO 200 and I'm thinking you've picked up more than a few sharpening artifacts (not all your pics look like this, this one is especially bad). It also says that you were at 35mm equivilant of 438mm which seems awful far for only 1/200 of a second. Did you use a tripod because that may be why you thought you needed to keep sharpening with camera shake. I guess this is more ?s than comments but I am trying to help, really!

I agree with all you say H.R., bad isn't it. It was windy and I did use a tripod, it is cropped by about 50% I'd say.
It's ok just commenting on one :) maybe some others will take one each? :D

You have some good pictures and some awful ones!

Looking at a review that is a good camera so I don't understand what is going on here. I'd try more test shots but this time keep the same subject for the different settings you try out.

Oh and whatever you are reading the exif with seems to be generating random numbers for the 35mm equiv value :lol)

I don't know, to deep for me. I do see all the shots below the f5 point seem to be horrid and all those above ok.

He seems to have got something there! Can you do a few test shots of the same subject at different aperatures starting at the 3.7 mark working up (make sure you change shutter speed to keep the exposure the same). So we can see what may or may not be going on!

Yup! I've seen great photo's on the web taken with this camera, will do tests just like you said, should have thought of it myself :bang:

It's a little baffling at first look - on the face of it it looks as if the auto setting is is biassed towards Aperture priority.

On some of the picks it looks as if it is struggling due to the limited contrast of the picks. Have you tried the manual settings?

Lost me there

Going to do some tests with my editing apps too. :D

You've lost me too! :p I need to read more photo stuff.
Manual settings is next on my agenda.

This is in manual mode which I'm not sure you have... Sorry not familiar with the camera. Basically as you narrow the aperture (the numbers get bigger) then you need to slow down your shutter speed in order to allow the same amount of light in and vice versa.

It's got pretty much all the doohickeys that a DSLR has including Raw.
I get you now H.R. :)
