im easy, have nothing planned for either dates.
see what other people are up for if they show interest?:D

also if anyone wants to meet up this coming sunday for a couple of hours im free, as the mrs and kids are going to a fare so it'll give me a chance to get out and about with the camera??

I'm afraid I'm busy pretty much throughout July, or I would happily join you on an excursion. I guess the missus and kids are going to the Robin Hood Fayre on Sunday. If so, there should be a few decent photographic opportunities - jousting, dog scurries, agility and the like, lurcher racing, birds of prey, extreme mountain biking etc. etc.. I won't be able to join you on Sunday, but maybe others will fancy it. £7 booked online and printed or £10 at the gate.

I will make it if I can but I am going away tomorrow up to the Wirral, near Liverpool, to look after my cousin who has just lost her son. The funeral is next Tuesday so I may be back in time.So I'll have to let you know at the last minute.Hepburn knows all the best photo places in North Essex and he may well decide to come along. If not then Colchester has the castle and park and the zoo and on saturdays is often good for street photos.I think there are market stalls on Saturdays but I'm not sure. They can make colourful shots.

If I dont make it because I have to stay away longer then I hope you have a great time.

Mmm . . . I'm not a 'meet sort of person' . . . ???? I get nervous and shy in company, and clam up  I do!!! But I will keep an eye on the thread . . . see how it goes, see if I cam get some courage . . . "off to see the Wizard, the wonderfull Wizard of Oz . . . "

. . . A suggestion, for Essex/Suffolk/Cambs/Norfolk togs. At sometime, what about the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary;

http://www.the-owl-barn.com/bbop/index.html

Never been there myself, they are busy at the weekends I suspect, its run as a charity, they like togs I get the feeling from their web site? No, I'm not offering to organise a day . . . I could not organise a 'p***-up in a brewery' . . .

go to the pub first for a couple of swift halfs to get you going.... who knows, we might not be able to keep you quiet after!!

could do a joint county meet type thing on the borders between the 3,

also open to suggestions for this meet too, im not very well traveled throughout essex and dont know any decent landmarks,

although hopefully there is parking close by as the last meet we had the 200 METER walk was a bit much for some folk :p

According to Google maps it was 0.6 miles, which is pretty much 1km, and I walked it almost twice before finally making it to the Peter Boat, thanks to hashcake. :suspect:

How about:

http://www.essextouristguide.com/Places_to_visit_in_Essex.asp

Look at the 'Gallery' for inspiration?

Colchester, Colchester Castle and grounds?

Colchester Zoo?

Clacton?

Southend? a bit run down, but I'm sure I saw a program that said they were getting it back together?

Then there is Suffolk:

http://www.heritagebritain.com/county-list/Places%20to%20Visit/Suffolk.html

Ipswich can be interesting?

Felixstowe?

Southwold

Heritage coast line . . . Dune walks

Sizewell? there are some beaches and dunes?

Ahh the 'Foresters'.. brings back fond memories from the 60s and 70s of works Beano's,anyone old enough on here to rmember them?
London firms would organise a works day out, they would hire a coach, fill the boot with beer and off they would go down the A127..wouldnt be long before they would be stopping on a layby, round to the boot, get the beer out..the journey to Southend sometimes took ages!..
By the time we got there most were half cut..then it was usually in the Foresters at lunchtime, fall out of there at 3pm(pubs were'nt open all day then),walk along the seafront, fish n chips, jellied eels, cockles, winkles etc..
Crash out on the beach till the Foresters opened, then another skinfull

Nothing to do with photography i know but sharing some memories of Southend..

Some unhappy ones for those who were not getting p***ed, like wives and children . . . sitting outside the pub with a lemonade and bag of Smiths crisps, blue bag of salt . . . half the time, the crisps were stale (soft!) Seem to remember a pub called 'the Half Way House' as the regular stop? At the time it was the norm . . . on reflection, not happy memories . . . family day out, I dont think so

I tell you what, I remember the 'Box Brownies' that were often taken along, and the moaning, trying to put the film in, that makes me smile, might even have a picture or two in the family achieve . . . an old brown suit case in the loft . . . ?

Children were not allowed on these trips..just meant for adults,Not a family day out usually single people..so there were no children sitting outside pubs..

This site, shows lots of 'places to see' around Colchester, lots are historic and around the main town . . .
