All of this set of four were taken at Badii Palace, a ruined former home of a Marrakech Sultan. Not the best due to handholding and, for those that care, genuine HDR's ;)

Dramatic stuff Johnny - 'tis indeed the season of the HDR! Pretty good for handheld - I never can seem to get that right!
#1 looks a little over dark on my monitor
#3 and #4 are my favs
Love the crane/stork(?) in the last one - adds to the atmosphere of abandondment and mystery!

Thanks John. Agree with your view on the first - I just couldn't get the drama I was looking for without really going for the darkside.
It is indeed a Stork - good spot. They use the battlements as nests; there's literally hundreds of them at that location!!
I like the symmetry of the 1st one with the clouds and the reflection.
The thingy sticking up in the fore ground of No2 is distracting.
3 I like very much.
And No 4, I love it :D

I like them a lot Johnny.
What impresses me, is that these are hand held!! I have a problems aligning the images, real problems when I try making an HDR from 3 hand held images.
The detail in the floor of No 3 is outstanding.

Thanks Susane & Doug
That foreground detail is annoying Susane - but i couldn't really crop much more due to the focal point being to close to the front - basic error!!!
Doug - you wouldn't believe how I frustrated my friend with my statue impressions! She'd be merrily walking off then realise i was 10 minutes behind her :)

Amazing looking place, I think you've captured the mood nicely doing the hdr thing on them...I like them all but I like the first and last the most, the second with the edge in the road distracts me, otherwise I'd like that one too.
Me thinks 3rd looks like a magazine ad without the poetic words about a sanctuary etc. :D
I’m ready for the next set Jon. :)

Thanks Adam - a good lesson in checking composition and checking again - that post is annoying me now and I'd hardly noticed it before! :bang:
More to follow tonight :)
Really like the last one and the first one cant decide about the third, really like the reflection in the last :D

No 3 is a peach of an image, and the figure between the arches is such an important part of the composition, without her, it wouldn't work so well.
For the others, I find that HDR processing (all HDR processing, not just yours) is not yet sophisticated enough to make it a viable method of processing, possibly in the future, but at present, it just doesn't cut the mustard. Colours generally look forced, unsightly halos, and most importantly, lack of shadow detail.

Thanks Les - I agree HDR isn't quite there yet in a purely technical sense, but I do enjoy using it to create a piece of work in an artistic impression sense.
Dont forget, the entire roof and most of the floor detail in the 3rd shot would have been lost in very dark shadow without HDR treatment ;)
Cheers, Jon

Yes, I agree , HDR is like a good single malt, it takes a while to mature :)
