Had this happen last weekend

My camera was sent flying into the footwell, will the insurance repair or replace the lens (I should say other persons insurance). If they replace it, will it be with another standard kit lens or with another lens??

The fault with my lens is it feels loose and I can't get it to manually focus although the autofocus seems to be ok.

If it was damaged in the accident and it was the third partys fault you should be able to get the money for it,

Just make sure you send your insurance company\solicitor a quote for a replacement lens and they should sort out the rest.

I agree - your insurance company should chase this up for you.

This is what insurers call "Uninsured Loss Recovery" which covers damage to items not directly covered by the insurance policy. Most insurers will do this for you although occasionally you need to get a claims solicitor involved, but as they add their costs to the damages you shouldn't be out of pocket at all.
