I took a few closer shots but it was a very windy evening and without a tripod they came out blurred. Getting a tripod this weekend though :D

Lighting is good

Slightly distracting background. Try getting lower and (if poss) use a smaller fNo (or do some pre-weeding).

Yeah, I got lucky with the sun just setting and lighting the clock 'just so' as I ambled on past staring at the ground, hehe. I have a tripod now - yay! - I intend taking a few more similar shots with a less distracting background and more in macro style.

Very nice lighting - agree with Oldgit about the pre-weeding or higher aperture settings - am definately looking forward to the tripod steadied macro-ish ones - fingers crossed you get that lucky again with the lighting :thumbs:

Ive been playing with Dandelion clocks too the last few days, and like you I think its about time I made that tripod purchase! :embarrassed:

Have you tried shooting them with water droplets on ... can look really pretty!

I lived there for a few years whilst at uni & think I only remember a few days when it wasn't raining... oh wait... nope, I only remember a few days full stop (but on those days it was raining :lol::lol:)
