Hi Stu
Just back - you're too late.
Only kidding, no take as long as you like to set date.
Steve's 23 Sept does seem a little distant though.
If we decide to go before then we can always set up another meet for 23/24 and Steve could drop in on that.

Yeh, I'm up for Friday and also not too keen on shooting in the rain.
I'm pretty much up for any location night shoot. Did you have somewhere planned ?

You don't want to know what we had planned!

Well we where just thinking of a pub. but we couldn't think of a nice one that would be deserted on a Friday night. so your Idea sounds good.

Night shots are something I would like more experience of. However Chuck are not allowed to rise your fancy D700 ISO above 1600 otherwise I will become consumed with jealously! :D

No need to worry Stuart, I'll just be using a D40.

Looks as if there is a bit of interest for Friday - Anybody want to suggest an actual meeting place / time ?

mmm light rain, Sunset at 9:51pm

To be honest I imagine if there is a break in the rain you could get some really cool looking photos with the wet ground?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/6?area=Glasgow

I don't know the area. It looks fairly publess!

To change the idea slightly could we meet at Gorge square round 6pm, and if the weather is suitably inspiring we could wonder over. However if it’s still pouring we could photograph women in wet T-shirts (joking!).

Why are you not using your D700?

Square is fine for me, although 6 is a little early. 7.15 -30 would be better - thoughts ?
May use D700 after all.

Your only expense would be getting there / back and maybe a pint or two in the pub.

True, and the big iron horse does not need as much whoompum as I thought it would. I will think about ways to get some and then take it from there.

:exit: off to mug a granny then.

BTW what kind off kit is everyone taking re tripods, flash etc and is it copies of yesterdays times under yer arm and a red carnation for identification?

I was wondering this. I will ethier travel light with a small RPS Bag and probaly Jessops carbon tripod.

Or I will take my Lowpro HUGE rucksack. so that I can carry my Fuji S3 and Sigma 70-200mm but to be honest I'm not using them these days I find.

Stuart

16-07-2010, 08:57
I'll be taking just the GF1 and a single flash gun with a tripod. Probably wont even use the flash gun. Nice and light

Ian W
16-07-2010, 10:03
Very light, KayJay!

I was always planning on bringing my D40x with the 35mm 1.8G and no flash gun (as I don't own one yet :D).

My tripod is a redsnapper and isn't as light as Stuart's carbon one but think I may bring it along with me anyway, we'll see.

stu_the_flat
16-07-2010, 12:18
I've mounted my tripod with the redsnapper monopod head! Its the lightest I could find! :D

I imagine now that Graham has found you are flash gunless he will be trying to tempt you with his many toys! :D

Strangely enough I had been perusing Graham's offerings anyway.

I admit to having a complete lack of knowledge when it comes to flash use however and will likely be picking brains left, right and centre!! :D

Know what you maen about flash. You have to try it to see if you like it! I love the i-TTL system but its just too exspensive to do more than one flash with it. So I am just about to buy manual triggers.

Do you want me to bring my SB-600 and "Flash-in-the-pan flash gun" and you can have a play?

Weather at moment is dry & windy - I'd settle for that.

Taking d700, sig 20, nik50 & 28-80 + flash & remote + Velbron Sherpa (need to be on to hump it about) pod.

Still making mind up about driving in or train.

stu_the_flat
16-07-2010, 15:08
I've just ordered new tyres as mine are getting close to 2mm tread, so if its heavy rain it will not be safe for me to drive so I will take the train, and in turn I'm not going to take lots of kit!
