Possibly the best pic ive taken so far imo. Im well chuffed. :D I found this little fella sitting on a leaf in the garden. Its a baby I think because it was tiny, and was just warming up in the sun. He sat there for ages and barely moved.

Ive taken a fair few other ones today, so i'll upload them later as well.

Hmm, imo this is far from your best work, although a great image composition and subject wise, the technical aspect and PP is slightly off. I might just be being picky, but i feel the left 1/3 and top 1/4 is overexposed. Also its very rarely that i think a white border suits a light photo. Black border will help keep your focus on the subject.

 ...I agree with all that Alex said ... this is by no way your best shot, many of your others are waaaay ahead. IMHO. :D

This shots just Ok to me. :D

I have to say I think I've seen you post better stuff.:)

It's not a bad shot by any means, but apart from the blown areas on the left, I'm not sure the point of focus is quite right? The head looks sharp enough, and that's the place to focus, but neither of the antenna are acceptably sharp and at least one really needs to be.

Looking at how sharp the front legs are I think you may just have focused a little in front of where you wanted to. You have to be hyper critical with macro shots - I find a huge percentage go in the bin. ;)

Not as good as I thought then. This pp any better?

I see what you mean with the focus CT. But I highly dount I would have been able to get the antenna in focus as well as the face. The butterfly was about 1-1.5cm across, and using the stock 18-55mm lens I was practically resting the front element against the poor little creature, so the plane of focus was getting silly small. Also I was having to use the widest aperture to keep the shutterspeed up as it was fairly dark in the hedge where he was hiding.

lol, i edited it myself in corel XI, and just compared it to your edit, its identical :D

It looks alot better than the original, and i can't see anything else that could make the image better. Although its near perfect in its own right, its still far from your best work. The butterfly isn't really interesting (no weird markings or colours). I would be pleased to have it in my own collecting, but it misses the wow factor.

Win some, lose some mate. ;)
