I'd not been out all week so I am getting a little tetchy and need to take some photos..... I looked up the flights coming and going from Doncaster for the afternoon and headed off for a few photos. Weather took a turn for the worst - well it was only 10º and overcast and spitting about with rain.

Robin Hood isn't the busiest of airports so there's a lot of waiting around involved if you want some photos. Anyway, here's two departures from this afternoon.

One thing you can't help but notice is the amount of rubbish that some people leave behind :nono: (the people in this car are not the culprits I hasten to add)

Levels look quite a way out on the first two. Look like they could do with being a lot brighter to me.

When I shoot aircraft I find I have to go to +1 exposure compensation.;)

I'll have a go next time at +1ev - although these two shots are pretty much how it was on the day with the weather being so grey and murky.

Some people hoose to use center weighted average and some matrix. Me personally it depends on the size of the aircraft. For jets, that dont usually fill the frame I use matrix and dial in +1 and sometimes shoot in burst of 3 with brackets of +1 +7 and +3. For airliners I tend to favor centre weighted as they generally fill the frame.

Though it does depend on weather and available light.

I see you use the Sony A100 which has spot metering - ideal for shooting aircraft.

Good shots, my local airport (Gatwick) has clamped down on people taking pictures at the end of the runway. Basically if your seen parked up on the grass verge your immediately moved on due to camera's being on 24/7.

Haven't been back for a while, this gives me incentive to go back though!

Great shots.

Is that out of paranoia or traffic congestion?
