Hi,

I saw this wee chap on the grass outside, about an hour ago, and thinking that it was an uncommon Siskin, I snapped a few through the patio doors.

Having looked at them on the screen, I began to have doubts. The brown wings looked odd! I checked my books, and whilst I'm not 100% certain, I'm tending now towards a Serin.

The wings are the giveaway I think, they're brown.

This is NOT a juvenile Siskin. If it IS a Serin, they are almost unheard of in the North of England.

I apologise for the poor pics, they were grab shots, contre'jour in bright, low light.

:embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

Ian,

Blimmin hell!! Am I embarrassed!!

I've never seen a Yellow hammer before in my life, but quite a few Siskins. I was focussing too much on the Siskin, I didn't even think that it might have been something other than a Siskin or a Serin.

Not that it matters, I've just photographed my first Yellowhammer:D

Thanks for putting me straight.
