Don't ask me why they are all head shots  I really can't explain... maybe it's CT's influence :suspect:

All taken at Donnigton Pond this evening.

And this little fella seemed to walk thinking he was a human  ... he also farted like a human. I tell you I heard the loudest thhhhhhurp and looked in time to see him leave a nice water green mess :gag: The hubby said "I swear that wasn't me"

No. 2 is nice and sharp - pity it wasn't turned to the camera just a little bit more!

Your focus seems to be mainly on the beaks and getting softer along the head and neck - maybe if you used a smaller aperture it would get more of the duck in focus?

Great plumage in the last pic, and the exposure is very good - not over-exposed on the white at all :o)

The expression of the penultimate duck is awesome, hehe. Though, imagine having a nostril about the same size as your eye... o.O

Yeah I know the shots aren't great focus wise, I just think these guys are funny

I had my 70-300mm lens on and the ducks were only a few feet away from me. I'm guessing my 18-55mm would have done the job better? Oh and they were all taken from the car with me turning sideways, I got an awful crick in me neck for my trouble.

Well, I don't know too much about the differences in lens sizes (I use a fuji finepix s5600 and it's a 'pretend' SLR - the lens isn't interchangable) but from watching the other half shoot with his film SLR, and noting the difference in size of the lenses, you'd probably get a steadier shot with the 18 - 55 just because it's easier to handle. However, the 70-300 I think would give you this nice indistinct background with a shallower depth of field than the 18-55 would, and in this instance I think that's a good thing - too detailed a background would spoil these pics.

There's probably someone else on here who can help you out more, hehe. I don't know much >.<
