I buy it bulk - 5 gals at a time!!
I actually have some fat balls zip tied onto the back of the tree, where they can't be seen. I get through a 50 ball bucket every couple of weeks, I've got them everywhere. Starlings eat more than anything else!!
Very nice Doug but I did expect to see pictures of kippers with that title :D

You're lucky Doug, my Sparrows are currently getting through a 50 ball bucket a WEEK! I kid you not... They're also doing a large mixed seed feeder a day, normally emptying it within a few hours. At one count yesterday, I had just over 50 Sparrows in the garden... :help:
How do you get so many sparrows in your garden!?
Is there a food they really like or something?

Don't think so - they seem to eat everything I put out. Their favourites seem to be the fat balls and mixed seed and they go mad for the maggots I put out every now and then... but they also eat peanuts, fat cake, sultanas and the apple that's meant for the Blackbirds! About the only thing I haven't seen them eat is the niger seed...
We live on a new-ish housing development (houses ranging from 5 years to new build) and pretty much every 3rd house has a Sparrows next under the roof. The noise when I walk to work through the development at 6am is beautiful
