Cant put my finger on it, but it just doesnt jump out at you. Have you done much PP to it?? poss worth a play?!

Personally I feel its a bit of a dull subject. The gate isn't really the focus, the corner of the gate is. I think the background is too busy to get a nice shot but close up's with the detail of the rust could be more fun.

Yes I have thought about a close up, I will give it a go. I think it's areally old victorian gate, the house was knocked down years ago

Don't know if it leads to anything worth seeing but I feel like I want to drag the left edge of the picture across to see where it goes.

A bit more contrast and sharpening might improve it a bit but a different angle might work better if you go back.

agree with all the above, maybe from a lower angle would make more impact, sorting of looking across the gate and along to the trees rather than just on a level with it and that wacking great post. maybe get a bit closer aswell
