I have been playing around with black and white images, and took this one hte other day.

Now, at home on 3 monitors, this looks about right, quite dark but you can see the detail, but at work, (on 2 monitors) it looks very dark to the point that it is far far too dark to be of any use.

So, this may look dark to you or it may not.

My monitors not 100% at the mo, but it seems too dark half way down. HTH :)

yeah same on this one here, I wonder why it looks fine all the way down at home :(

The bottom half is dark on my laptop, which is generally spot on for colour and brightness.

The top of the picture doesnt help with it being blownout though.. so you cant really lighten too much..
More contrast needed IMO?

mm I wonder if i messed up the layers when I saved it and sent it to my web space


I had done the 2 layers and layer mask trick to bring the detail back into the bottom half while keeping the top half, how i wanted it, and well it doesent look the same now.

Not too dark as such but too much middle grey - I would prefer more contrast. :thumbs:

As another member said,it needs more contrast and a good amount of it.
I find a good B&W has to bee quite contrasty.
