How do you make a signature/watermark in CS with a transparent background, I need to be able to just select the signature image and paste onto my shots etc, I've had a go but seems to only save as .Gif and will not paste onto a jpeg  and it looks pixelated etc

TIA :)

Save the signature as a .png and you will be able to have this on a transparent background.

just make your sig/watermark on a new transparent layer and save as a .psd file.
when you then re open it, just drag that layer on top of your image you want to apply the sig/watermark to

If you're making this in Photoshop, add your signature as a new layer then adjust the layer opacity.

JPEGs do not support transparency, when you add a transparent layer, Photoshop calculates what colour the pixels should be taking into account which pixels are visible.

The alternative is to create a new brush using your signature. That way you can stamp it on any picture in any colour/size combination you want. Much more flexible than creating a layer with your signature.

Ah but even better is to create an action so that the signature appears for instance in the bottom right hand corner of a web sized image and then you only need one click against a few to set and open the brush.

Admittedly the signature.png will need setting up but once it has it is a doddle to do and you can have a few so that one is bottom right/left or top right/left etc.

Signatures are only generally used for web images anyway.
