View Full Version : Please Help, Probably so simple but so annoying
Hey all I feel quite silly asking this but I need to resize a jpeg for a website and it must be less than 0.5mb (512kb). My problem is when I go to resize it its all in resolution, pixels, height, width etc and its driving me insane. Ive looked all over for guides etc.
So basically how do I know what resolution, pixels etc to use to make it 0.5mb or a little smaller
Thanks everyone in advance, Ive got 1 hair left on my head
Joe
Save it as 600 pixels on the longest edge (ppi doesnt matter) Save the jpg at quality 8 or so and it will be suitable for web use.
I should have added, what software are you using?
Lightroom lets you select a maximum file size I think

Sorry Eos im using lightroom 3
Thanks very much buddy
Ive just saved it as 600 pixels on the longest edge in windows paint and its just over written the original image DOH
In Lr3 export panel, set 600 pixels in both boxes. This will export your image a max of exeither 600px wide or high. Quality 8-10 should provide a fairly small image of about 100kb.
No worries and if you need more let me know. Read up on resolution. Will make a difference to the way you work with images.
Thanks alot mate thats great
Or use SAVE FOR WEB
That will reduce the filesize.

Does Lr have a save for web command? Thought that was Photoshop?
