View Full Version : Buying a used Canon MP-E 65mm
Having decided to get a Canon MP-E 65mm for macro, I did a bit of Googling.
I was surprised to find the lens was released in 1999.
Have Canon upgraded the lens in this time ?
Any issues to look out for when buying second-hand ?
It look like the current model hasn't changed in 11 years

It's still in its original form, simply a bit of glass and an aperture motor.
The only thing to look out for is that there's enough left in your wallet for an MT-24EX Twinlite...pretty much essential for this lens.

i bought one on here second hand a few months ago, no worries what so ever, brilliant lens still, and agree with above comment, mt24 ex is essential.
Thanks for the comments - now I just have to find one !
MT24 will have to wait :(
I have a cheap ringflash and am hoping a couple of FITP flashes mounted on a homemade bracket will do the job for now.
