Hi folks
I'm planning on going home to Yorkshire for a few days sometime in the first 2 weeks in July (no set date yet) and wondered if anyone fancied meeting up? I've no idea what's on around then, but if anyone can think of anything, let me know!

I might be up for this, depending on the dates. The w/e of 7th and 8th would probably work for me.

Well I'm stuck in country for a bit longer due to surgery so I'll actually be around for another meet in July. Anywhere is fine.

anyone got any ideas for possible places to go? Weather could be a bit changable I guess...so somewhere with both indoor and outdoor possibilities could be good :)

Seems to be an extensive collection of varying gardens and glasshouses so should be good rain or shine.

I gather there are botanical gardens in Harrogate as well.

Depending on your final plans, would there be room for a noobie? May as well jump in with both feet and make the effort to meet and learn from some of you talented peeps. :)

Yeah any more information for us yet, then we can decide who can make it.

Forgot about this thread :bonk: I'll be home from Sat 7th - Tues 10th with a pretty hectic schedule trying to fit in all the necessary visits to family & friends. I could do Saturday 7th or Monday 9th if that's any good to anyone? I quite fancy something coastal, but I'd be up for anything - whatever suits the majority.

Matt Charlton

Sue's working on the 7th, I'm working the 9th :(

I've got nothing planned on Saturday though, so if someone can pick me up I might be up for something.

Jimmy_Lemon
02-07-2007, 17:28
Coastal could be fun :) I think the weather is suppose to pick up for the weekend. I could pick you up on the way over Matt :) Poor Sue though :(

/me goes to check diary

Just looking around t'internet as to where we could go. How about...

Scarborough
Castle Howard
Harewood House
York
or somewhere that someone else can suggest?

I don't really want to head up too far north, especially if we go on the Saturday, as I'll be driving up there from Hampshire (if it's the Monday, I don't mind). The 5 1/2 hour drive to Bolton Abbey just about finished me off last time

Jimmy_Lemon
02-07-2007, 19:48
Castle Howard and Harewood are a bit pricey to get into (so I am told) and my budget is a bit low at the moment :( but scarborough or York sound good to me. Did York not long ago, but didnt do much on the streets, and the Minster let you take photos inside the main bit which is nice :) Scarborough would also be nice, though I guess it could be a bit depressing if it is raining, and with this recent weather who knows!

Just read the end of your post and Scarborough can take a while to get to from the Motorway (if I remember correctly)

inophoto
02-07-2007, 20:31
Scarborough is a while away from the motorway, but both Scarborough and York are great locations.

Scarborough has some fantastic beaches if you are prepared to wander off the beaten track and York just can't be beaten for medieval architecture.

sue
02-07-2007, 20:39
At least York would have places you could get out of the rain should it **** it down.

Les McLean
02-07-2007, 20:43
York is a good option, as if the weather is poor, you always have the minster, and the Railway Museum has good photo opps.
The minster now charges for entrance (£4 I think), but you can use a tripod, as you can at the Railway Museum.

Matt Charlton
02-07-2007, 20:51
This is the part where Tom and I are glad we filled out those little slips and paid gift aid on our entry into york minster and got a yearly pass for it for free :D

Jimmy_Lemon
02-07-2007, 20:53
This is the part where I realise I havent got a clue where the hell that little slip is :p

sue
02-07-2007, 20:54
But do either of you know where they are????

I do by the way know where ours is.

sue
02-07-2007, 20:57
And the Railway museum is free as well.

sue
03-07-2007, 12:53
So while I am busy working where are you all going to go? I am looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Sorry, I won't be able to do this weekend after all. Another time ....

minimeeze
04-07-2007, 10:24
Can we decide if / where / when we are meeting before the end of Friday as I will have no internet access after then :'(

York is looking good for the Saturday (7th). The only problem I can see with York on a Saturday is parking! If it's Monday (9th), then I'm happy to travel further afield and would be up for something coastal.

DarknFuzzy
04-07-2007, 10:31
Doesn't look like i'll be able to make this. I am camping up at Robin Hoods bay this weekend (7th-8th) and I will be working all next week (9th).

Whatever you decide on I hope you have fun. :)

sue
04-07-2007, 16:31
Hmmmm there is park and ride, nunnery lane carpark, railway parking. Just a couple of suggestions for parking in york, but it is up to you guys who are going. I wont have a problem parking in the hopsital carpark at 7 on saturday morning.

Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

Arse, ****! Looks like I wont be able to make Saturday after all :( Some work has come up that I can't really afford to turn down. Will probably extend to Monday aswell, so looks like I am out for all of this. Work sucks!!!!

Matt Charlton
04-07-2007, 17:03
If Tom is out, I'm out. Oh well, gives me chance to play on the 360 or the PS3 if I have it by then.

Matt Charlton
04-07-2007, 17:17
sorry cheryl ;(

No car though so Tom was going to give me a lift.

You'd get bored walking around York with me anyway, I know Sue does :p

errr, I think you'll find you spend much more time on't net than me (and this forum inparticular :D ).

PS I'm working the weekend mornings, but if you fancied going to Skipwith Common for a few hours I'd take you there (or Kay could take you - theres a pub for lunch too) - its OK for birdies (with the right lens), trees and stuff, plus dragonflies etc (the moths don't come out till evening). Also might be able to get some shots of grass snakes / lizards if the weather is right too.

Dave sold his bass.
