Ahh but us girls love soppy! If my husband ever thought to do something like this let alone do it he would have a VERY good evening. As for the picture it is a bit dark I think the light background may have fooled the sensor.

Great idea for the pic. Agree with Renee that the hands look a little "dirty" but small crib as I love the pic.

I like that shot Matt, could do with some selective levels adjustments as mentioned by Renee & Gary but the noise complements the pic I think so I'd leave the background as is.
Just one minor thing for me though - not sure if its the lines of your hand or not but the mark just to the right of the "I" is a bit distracting for me - looks like you began to write I with a biro before the final writing.

The mark next to the "I" is the number 9. I use my hands as a note pad:shrug:
