European Drift championship - Difficult to get a good angle from the middle of the BDRC grandstand, at this point the cars are moving sideways at about 80mph. Is that lost in this shot? taken with the camera set to "sport"

Hey Stu

A little bit of advice - when the camera is set to "Sport" mode it automatically sets the shutterspeed very fast to freeze the action.

If you want to make it look like there's some movement there you need to set the camera to shutter priority mode (the S on the top dial) and set the shutterspeed to around 1/125th or 1/160th. This will do two things - give you more wheel & background blur (not really relevant to this shot as the cars are facing away) and also it will decrease the actual hit rate of you getting sharp shots - so bear this in mind.

By the way the forum size limits are 800 pixels wide max, so could you reduce the size before a mod breaks the link ?

Cheers
Ross

Hey Ross,

thanks for the tips. I haven't even managed to read all of the user manual for the camer yet, but I'll have a play with the settings ;)

I agree with Divine_madness. A crop will make all the difference.

Quite like the crop, but if the speed was lost in the original, i think its definitely gone now? Just my honest feedback - thanks for yours :)

I quite like the original, especially showing the S-bend of the track. The only problem is that you're so far away you're never really going to be able to really show the motion and there's not much you can do about that from that location.
