View Full Version : Central Cafe
Was wandering around Liverpool for my 1st outing with the 10-20 (gotta love that distortion ) & this building caught my eye - absolute state of disrepair but looked like it'd make a nice image. After I'd converted it to B&W I felt there was still something missing & it looked too clean so I went for a really dark, dismal moody feeling & antiqued the image.
C&C very welcome & appreciated as this is one of my first ever building shots & its something I wouldn't mind trying again

looks good, the distressed effect suits this type of image:thumbs:
Yeah like that alot...the 10-20 rocks. I love mine to bits!
thats proper nice, as said above, the distressed effect works well
I think the conversion to sepia / black and white works well. However, I'm not sure the added noise does. The left 1/4 is slightly lighter than the rest of the image. Maybe try burning that side a bit to make it fit in more. I'm not really a fan of adding noise as its too uniform. I prefer to increase the ISO on my camera because then the noise is a real result of the light I captured. Personally I think the image would work well enough without the added noise.
I really like this image, It makes me want to buy a 10-20 even more!
Cheers Marcus, Pete & Mole2k (its a great but very wierd lens)
Thanks for the detailed feedback Pete, all of the noise is texture from a nice graduated plaster wall that was just over the road from the building - the lighter side was intended to draw the eye into the image - I'll give it a look without it but think the foreground wall is a bit too dominating when darker
