Right, I found some time and light(although not very good, and fading) to test out my new macro lens this evening. Although usable, the light wasn't very good at all, and I had to crank the ISO up to 800 to get reasonable shutter speeds. Well my fist impression is that its very different to use than my last setup. The focal length and wide aperture(combined with no dof preview button) makes it very hard to get the focus right. Im sure with practice this will become easier, but during this test I got a lot of oof and blurred shots. Anyway, the ones that were acceptable;

This last one isn't quite in focus imo, but its not too far off.:)

You'll probably find that the number of in-focus shots you get goes up a lot with relatively little practice, and when theres decent light that allows smaller apertures.

Nice first shots, top one especially.

Yeah deffinately. Even after the 45 minutes or so I was out doing these I could feel myself getting a better technique. You really need a good solid stance, and your arms tucked right in, take a deep breath and start snapping. Better light should hopefully help a lot as well. F2.8 is just silly at 1:1.
