Total crap then! :bang: back to the drawing board anyone wanna by a 70-200L f2.8L
  aawwww, never mind cobra, I was just thinking how quiet it is round here, we must be th eonly saddos stuck at home instead of out with cameras. I like them, but then stick a nag in there and I like them anyway, but technically they look quite good, I love how you caught her smiling. ;)
Cheers LL I guess we must be
Got peeps viewing the house today wife and daughter out riding, son out on his motor cycle me stuck at home reading forums and email
Dont worry Cobra, they arent too bad. It was your first go with that lens. Im not going to say too much anyway as i will have that lens dropping on my door matt early next week! will have to see how bad my first efforts are!!
Nothing wrong with those - just get 'em sharpened to make 'em pop. ;)

  Its bloody heavy compared to the 70-300 I'll say that!
I should get more chance practice tomorrow with it

Cheers CT I did give 'em a little tweek but a not knowing quite when to stop, I am always scared of going to far
LOL. Get 'em sharpened! If in doubt just keep applying USM in small amounts till it looks overdone then undo the last step or two. Be careful - Canon are sending out snatch squads to recover these lenses from people who give them a bad rep.

Cheers CT and thanks for the heads up :D I had better not advertise that fact that I have one then
Hurumph all above taken with a kit 18-55 lens not the 70-200 I was just fantasizing :D

I bet its no heavier than my 100-400 :D
good, practice makes perfect ;)
It's a bit lighter than the 100-400L :)
One word - monopod!
It's a bit lighter than the 100-400L :)
Phew!! :woot: , i guess the problem will occur when i need to carry both
Monopod, nahh, i do have one, but have found it a little hard to get on with, i prefer the freedom of handholding, plus, its not that heavy anyways!!

Thanks Sherlock She ( Alison) has been quite ill the past 3 years and is now starting to get "back in the saddle" on all accounts

1st shot is a belter Chris. The girl is obviously really enjoying herself by the smile on her face.
Great action shot.

sorry to be a party pooper... but shot one is not in complete focus and it looks oversharpened
shot 2 is not even a good snap shot... cannot see the face of horse or rider.. plus it wants cropping
shot 3 would be a nice shot were it razor sharp... next time use a faster shutter speed to freeze any motion which is the failing of this picture (not sharp enough)
check out Joe T's thread for pin sharp animal portraits
apologies if I appear rude, but photography is all about learning from your mistakes

I am a big big boy I can take / expect critique
#1 single focal point used just about on the thick chest / shoulder strap
( don't ask me what its call :D ) but barely sharpened at all
#2 fair comment but it was deliberately taken from that angle so my daughter could see the extension / muscle flexion one that particular "discipline" perhaps not a good one to post in retrospect
#3 fair comment already raised by CT
But thanks for your C&C its always appreciated
edit anyone got the link to Joe's thread ?

Joe's excellent series from Longleat

Try to use a wider aperture as well... with your new Lens that should be no problem, to throw the distracting background right out of focus
Cheers Chris

Thanks on both counts
These are a huge improvement on your previous showjumping shots Chris, well done on that and the new lens.
It is now a case of getting out there and practising, look forward to seeing some more.
