Macro lenses

I had a set for my Kodak Z740 and loved them, so I recently bought some for my 350D. I've yet to try them on it, and was wondering what other peoples thoughts were on them?

Are they a cheap useless gimmick, or are they a good substitute until one can lay their hands on a proper macro lens?

You'd be better placed to answer that one, when you've tried them :)

i have a set that i bought for my bridge camera, and they fit one of my lenses now i have moved onto a dslr.

In truth I dont use them often, and when i do I only really use the +10 (tried to stack them once and noticed a definate quality drop) and it seems to be prettty good.

Had a go at a grasshopper just yesterday with it (my daughter had caught one and put it in a jam a jar) got a decent size "macro" but the jam jar wrecked the quality

Ok I had a play  Not bad I think.

All were taken hand held, so I'm guessing it would be even better with a tripod  No cropping, just resizing.

Without any of them:

with the 10+ on:

and finally with all 4 on:
