Loch Morlich. I was up there yesterday and took some pics. I like this one. I have a habit of prefering a duotone than the usual b/w

lol I like it fine but if it were my preference I'd crop it so that the flat top of the nearest rock is just in frame.

:agree:
Also it's suffering from jpeg artifacts ... the sky is 'orribly banded

That all depends on the quality of your mointor. Poorer quality of monitors will display banding more often. And of course this is a severly compressed image of the original which is maybe 20 times smaller in information size, so can't expect a perfect image with that compression and a poor monitor.

I really like it as a square shot. Been enjoying a little play with some crops and I think it's just stunning with a tad taken off the bottom (just under the small rock, centre foreground) and then down from the top to square it off. Which just happens to end up leaving the little wisp of cloud above the large bank on the right edge.

Just a tiny tiny bit of banding here btw.

I was there yesterday Kayaking with the kids. Hardly a breath of wind early on.

Still prefer to see it like this though

I wish I could get that high :p Just the carrbridge ones (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=25430)

Need to go back up there. I used to go there so much when I lived nearby but now I am all the way down in fife so don't have so much opportunity.

Fife ain't bad! Harbours, coastline and of course the Forth bridges. Speyside is great but so dependant on a good light which can be so elusive.
