I have just got one of these bad boys and have been playing around with it.

I know a few of you guys have it. Any tips on getting the best out of it?

Can't say I've done any hardcore analysis of its capabilities, but for landscape work I generally just use any aperture from f8-22 (depending on exposure) and manual focus to a vague approximation of the hyperfocal distance. Almost always use a tripod, generally because I tend to use it with ND filters.

I'm now going to shamelessly pimp my shots in 'Cornish seascapes' thread in the landscapes forum as an example of what I took using the above method.

Seriously thoughm the possibilities are endless. I've used it far more than any other lens since I bought it. Best bit is just to go and play with it and see what you can come up with. I think it's easy in some cases to create images that look a bit strange, such as objects which distort but which the eye knows shouldn't like that. Hard to explain what I mean, but it's a fantastic lens, and one I never regretted investing in.

Jonnyreb has a good point - countless times I've looked at my shots after a day out with it and found my feet in the shots!! Sometimes it can be tricky to get your feet far enough away!!

I too, am now the proud owner of one of these lenses......not yet had it out of the box though! Bought it on last day of hols, whilst in Gibralta (loads of dosh off :D ). hope the weather good at weekend so I can play.

You're right, I realised that when I downloaded it. Christian is recovering well thanks, 3 weeks of radiotherapy start Thursday and then hopefully that's it. :crossfingerslooksuptotheskies:

First time I got mine I went over to the common to try it out and could see a overhanging tree in the frame. Weird, I could not see a tree. Turned around, oh, it was behind me!
