I've noticed that on the Nikon F1.8 50mm (the cheapy one) it's got an aperture ring like on my old film cameras. On my D50 body I can set the aperture, so what do I do with the aperture ring on the lens? How do they both work together?

Thanks in advance for clearing up my confusion!!

Nikon 'D' lense have an aperture ring on them as you can use with with most nikon cameras (both film and digital)
As you are using it with a digital camera you will need to lock it to F22 otherwise you will get an error displayed on the cameras screen.
