Good series of images, always a lot more difficult that it seems.
I can't help thinking , particularly in the first two, as that red background tends to dominate whether a gritty B&W treatment may work?

Hmmmmm.... Hadn't thought of that nor have I done it before, but as they say, God loves a trier :)

You've done well to get them so clear but being side on to the stage they look a little unusual - like you were on stage with them. Not sure if that works or not!

I think that you have done well and I have just found out how difficult gig photography is too (having just done my first)...but aint it fun regardless of the results...but I really like 4 and 5.

1, 4 & 5 for me mate, feel that they could all do with a bit of sharpening (the face in the 1st could do with a little selective sharpening) not sure about the 2nd - feel like you've captured the image well but the mist obscures a bit too much detail IMO.
The 1st looks like a drum session/workshop image - really nicely done & my favorite of the set

Thanks Guys,

Keep the comments coming please. I generally don't do anything to the shots before I post so that I can get comments like "needs sharpened a bit" or "bit more contrast" etc. This is because I'm new to the PP of shots as well and I can then go and try what's been suggested and see if I can spot the difference the changes have made. I'm so unfamiliar with processing it's unbelievable :)

Tnx
David.

it's always difficult to photo the drummer, as they're right at the back - and in smaller venues, sat in the dark as well

so i do think that the drummer pic is really good, especially the second one

you've done good - cos this is difficult

did you have a pair of earplugs? if not, then can i suggest Doc Pro Plugs from any music shop's drum department, they're about £12 a pair - it's a health and safety issue, and well worth buying a couple of pairs

they are good, the drummer shots are well shot considering they are often difficult to shoot and as sakura says usually sat in the dark and your camera prefers to attempt to focus on the all the bright shiney bits of metal that cage them in!

i like the bassist shot because it shows more detail than the others, and it also shows that the musician is "into" what he is doing.

i think you've also found the plague on humanity (and band photogs) that is red lighting!

keep up the good work

Nice stuff. As already said, hard to get a picture of the drummer, so well done.
I LOVE RED LIGHTING
