Rumours rumours rumours.

Looking forward to seeing it either way. Cropped, Full Frame or miniature, dont really care as long as the technology advances and benefits us, the users. Hopefully it doesnt become a willy waving competition as to who can squeeze the most pixels on a rediculously priced full frame sensor.

Get on with it. Release it and get started on the next one.

King.

I have heard and seen loads of rumours about the new Nikon D3 camera.

I was only told last week that Nikon are bring out a new pro camera sometime early next year before Beijing Olympic Games 2008. But I have also been reading afew other photography forums that it will be out this year just before Xmas...

Look at the photo from the link...It seems that this Nikon D3 has a built in flash...the Nikon D1, D1H, D1X, D2H, D2Hs, D2X and D2Xs didnt have a built in flash...So why now they put one on now !!! I now alot Pro photographers who dont like built in flashes on the cameras.

So if the photo is real, which I dont think it is. It will not be good for Nikon as alot more photographers will move over to Canon and use the Canon 1D Mark III !

Lets wait and see...

Load of rubbish Paul. Nobody really like onboard flash but it's better than nothing at all in an emergency. I can't see people with £1000s invested in pro lenses and the like dumping it all on ebay and moving to canon because there's an on-board flash fitted.

As above the rumour mill is spinning very fast these days. June 26th has been mentioned as a possilbe date.

We shall see..... :p

Snip!

I actually use my D200's flash quite a lot. Sometimes I just cant be arsed to carry the extra weight/size of the SB-600. It is a lot easier to pop the flash up and get the shot you need when the situation arises. I for one would appreciate the addition of onboard flash on the top end camera.

Will be interesting to see if Sony use the same sensor in their long awaited pro model, although I have a feeling the Nikon will be out a long time before the Sony is.

Load of rubbish...I dont think so !

Nikon will never bring out a on-board flash on a Pro camera, if they do it will be a very bad mistake !

Why get worked up :cuckoo: ? Its a pointless argument, you either use it or you don't, simple as.

Come on Nikon, save me from these pointless rumors and debates!

The on board pop-up flash is being introduced or modified on most new Nikon models so it now acts as a Commander Unit for their Creative Lighting System meaning you do not need to buy the separate SU800 controller.

So if you had £1000s invested in top of the range Nikon lenses and Nikon bought out a perfectly good pro camera that had an in built flash you'd sell it all, losing plenty of money on the way and switch to another brand?

Tis a good point, may be some silly people though

LOL. The on board flash on my 20D has been a life saver on a couple of occasions when I've been caught without a flash, but most of the time, I forget it's even there.

The only reason I could see Nikon putting a flash into the D3/x/s/jdm/cdti/xr3i would be to run their CLS wireless flash system. If you want to do it now with the d2 you need either an SB800 or SU800. But if you're paying top dollar for a pro camera you're not going to worry about saving a couple of hundred notes to get access to rarely used lighting system!

Best thing about the D3 is gonna be the sudden rash of d2x/d2xs's hitting the 'bay at bargain prices. Time to start saving methinks. By the time Nikon actually release it I'll have saved up enough pennies!

Bloody gearheadrumourmillwillywavingnonsense!
