Anybody know where I can get single sheets cheap of matt black foam core board in Nottingham, or over the Internet in the UK? I use black velvet as a backdrop for a lot of my plant close-up's but this tends to show ripples unless stretched tight and does pick up dirt where I have stood pots on the end.

I was recommended on a US site to use matt black foam core board as a background, but an Internet search in the UK only seems to turn up suppliers wanting to sell it in 10-25 sheet packs which are pretty expensive! I believe it is about 5mm thick? Dimensions requires about 18" x 24", or nearest to that.

I tried all over my local area and couldn't find any of the stuff. Seems like it is used most often in arts and crafts, so you could try your local one of those?

Dave, try this place, its down past ladybay bridge, the retail park on the left, SCS and Burgerking are there too. The Range Sell all sorts of stuff including loads of craft things, plus Hobbycraft are there too. HTH.

Thanks everybody. They seem to have some Glen but it is only A3, it looks as if it is the A2 size I want

The stuff seems to be a horrendous price for what it is from most places!

Tin of matt black paint and a bit of thin plywood? Wipe clean or repaint as necessary.

Search Yell.com for sign supplies in your area; you're looking for a product called Foamex, Foamalux, or something else on those lines. You'll be able to get a half sheet cut to your spec for next to nothing.

You'll be able to get it in most colours at 3mm, 5mm or 10mm thick.
