View Full Version : First outing with the 100-400mm IS L on the 5D

Ok bear with me as this lens was new this morning,
looks like a bit of a learning curve, but sofar im very impressed with it,
thought i'll try the local nature spot at Monkton,
walking about i came on this woodpecker.

Handheld F6.7, exposure 1/60 (good job its IS) iso-800, AP mode, @400mm,
i'll add some more later

The saying "practice makes perfect" is true...your second shot is lovely and sharp. How are you finding the push/pull action?

Yes I got this last week and it does take a bit of getting use to.
I agree 2nd shot is nice and sharp
I wasnt impressed with my first shots, but after a few days of getting used to it they have improved drasticly

Sorry photostar i missed your post, it does take a bit of getting use to,
the first shot was cropped hard, but i liked it cos its the first woodpecker iv ever seen,
Thanks scraggs, i like that one too.
A bit more practice me thinks.
