Here are a couple of my first greenfinch shots with my new 100-400 L.
Both are 100% crops with very light usm and i'm quite pleased with the sharpness.

Amazing the people you hear slagging off the 100-400L, but it consistently produces the goods. :)

I think it just takes a hell of a lot of getting use to, its quite a heavy lens in comparison to the other zooms I have had and holding it steady is hard but you get use to it, that said these ones were on a tripod, but I have some sharp handheld shots from it.
I have noticed the percentage of keepers is getting a lot better with each use.
Dare I say it user error:lol: "runs and hides"

Terrific, superb detail and colours. I've never had a bad word for the 100-400, I know too many pro's using them for it to be an iffy lens.

cheers

Its the AF that peeved me when I had mine Cedric doing motorsport and airshows etc...:( Getting a lock on anything at high speed was always the problem I had.:(

Static pictures like this arnt a problem for any lens IMO..:)

Lovely pictures of the Greenfinch BTW..

Thanks for the comments
I have to confess and say I was going to send this lens back after a few days, cause the shots I had taken were terrible with nothing sharp at all, glad I didnt now.

I have found the IF much quicker than the 70-300 it has replaced, but I will let you know for sure later cause i'm going to try to find time to do the Clacton airshow this year.
