Which book do you have/want that is your photography 'bible'? I just bought "Basic Photography - By Michael Langford (8th Edition)" for £18 inc delivery from Amazon. Been recommended this book by many.

Never really read many books on the subject. Was taught mostly by my dad when I was young and now I just tend to pick up what I feel need off the internet.

so probably....the camera manual.....and that only gets a cursory look when I can't work something out!

Being a close-up photographer:-

Close-Up Photography & Photomacrography by Kodak

The Manual of Close-Up Photography by Lester Lefkowitz

Photomacrography, An Introduction by William White.

There are loads of general photography books and Web pages dealing with conventional photography, but not very many technical close-up photography books or Web pages. Most internet "macro" pages are about photo magazine, or superficial beginner macro articles level, usually written by conventional photography authors detailed to do one on macro.

Never read no books! T'interweb and other people's EXIF generally does the job I find.

Michael Langford's 35mm Handbook. my mum gave this to me 10 years ago and it gave me a good base on how the camera worked and the mechanics and theory behind aperture, shutter speed and depth of field.

photoshop cs2 for photographers by scott kelby for digital techniques.
