Yup, its a door handle alright. Does nothing for me im afraid. The subject isn't great, and the depth of field is too shallow. Sorry. Welcome to the forums though.:)

Hello GT R and welcome to TPF!!
This is a good start as we all have to start somewhere.
Try it without flash though and increase or decrease your depth of field and post again!
You might need to use a tripod.
Try an unusual view and even a mundane item such as a door handle can become a good piece of subject matter!

thanks for the replies and hints, any suggestions for a good camera to start off with?. join the royal navy soon so want one to take with me
You know what... I actually like the idea behind this! :)
I love how from this angle the handle forms the shape of a crucifix. I agree that it would work better without flash - would get rid of that nasty dark shadow - and a really shallow depth of field would help. A tripod won't hurt either.
As for what sort of camera to buy? Well that's a tricky one. Perhaps if you let us know your budget and what you intend to use the camera for, we can throw some ideas out :)
I'm new to the forum too, but from my short stay here I can tell you it's a good community to be a part of!
