Thanks to MonkeyDave (cheers bud) I now have a set of extension tubes to go with my tamron 90.
These are the first few shots i've taken with this setup, all from my rather wet garden

It's much more difficult than just using the macro lense on its own, DOF is much narrower for and given apature and shake is much more of a problem, but i am getting used to it, i think. :)
