And it starts to rain before I can get some nice long exposures of the clouds :( Not overly pleased with the results. Yay or Nay?

One third fields and two thirds sky. No focal point either.:(

I think a landscape crop would have benefited here mate.

Also very dark on my monitor, needs the contrast lifting too.;)

Result: Nay.:(

Nay.

Too dark and not enough definition.

Thanks for the comment. Im not quite sure what wrong with having more sky than ground though. I tend to really like landscape shots that are like that.(although maybe not this one.) Yeah, unfortunately I couldn't find any focal points in the field, I could do with a castle at the end of the field line or something. I know its fairly dark, but (and I don't want to sound defensive here) it was under a storm cloud.

I certainly don't mind monkeydave. Out of interest, is your monitor calibrated? Because I think I need shades to look at that for long periods of time.:p And it was a very dark thunder cloud taken as its starting to go dark. Still, if people don't like it, then they don't like it. As I say I wasn't overly happy with the results myself.

I agree (sorry), but it's very dark.

And why ISO400 if you wanted a long exposure?

Why overexpose by 1/3 stop?

I can see where you are going with this, and with the right conditions/view/exposure those poppies would make a wonderful anchor.

Composition works for me and I like the bellowing parallel clouds and defo nothing wrong with 2 3rds sky IMHO. Have seen it used many a time. even 1 6th ground and the rest sky if the sky if the main subject and the land is just there to anchor it so to speak.

Only prob is it's way too dark as others have said.

I would lighten contrast this in PP a little just to see how it would have looked maybe using a grad or belnding e.t.c

How about this?

I will delete it if you don't like :)

Although those poppies do make my eyes go funny for some reason :D

Fair enough. This wasn't one of the long exposures. When I tried the long exposures, I got rain on the lens which ruined the shots, so I gave up. This one was handheld so I needed to get the shutter speed up. I overexposed by 1/3rd of a stop as the metering kept underexposing the scene slightly. As I say, this was mainly a scouting mission to find a decent poppy field. Now that ive found it, i'll head back sometime and get ome better composed and better exposed shots.:)

siejones.. thats quite a decent pp.:) Im going to leave this one now anyway, and count it as a lesson learnt.
