View Full Version : Alternative self portrait
My first self portrait post :p
I used coloured gel overlay things from my lighting set, sync the flashes & turned off the light - that's about it aside from the usual post processing.
Know it's not to everyone's taste but I was in a bit of a random mood & thought I'd try something different - the ball is for contact juggling btw just in case anyone thought I'd randomly included elements for the sake of it
C&C welcome & appreciated as usual

I love it! im not too keen on the black border where it goes down your face on the left.....Id prefer it jsut the edge of the photo if you see what I mean.......but its superb even if someone else had taken it... but as a self portrait....
Sean Bean eat your heart out!!
Like this a lot! Top shot!
LoL Janice, thanks for that  (have reposted without border as I completely agree with you about the black space on the left hand side)
Cheers Oy
As I've still not got a remote release I was legging it back & forward to the camera between shots
Kudos to you people that do self portraits all of the time it really is very challenging!!

Wow, thanks for the comments Tim, steve, Mitch, Joe & Glo (there was a rhyme in there somewhere )
I'm only 60 in my mind Tim - although I will now have to start leaning out of my window & shouting "get off my grass you young whippersnappers" at the kids
Oh that looks much nicer without the black border now, Mike.

Great stuff. If you got a smartphone or programmable remote control maybe you can download a infrared program to trigger your flashes.
Moomike? Well hello ;) we do have some lookers on this forum don't we!
What a great self portrait, well done
Can't fault it - original and well done! :)
Nice lighting but oddly it doesn't look like you, if you get me :)

Cheers mate, I'll look into that - sounds like a great idea (but very advanced stuff that is) I've only just started using proper lighting but will definitely be investing in a remote release though in the meantime.

Never thought you were 60 Mike but I suppose this is very contemporary. And if you dye your hair your secret is safe. :D
Good job!

Whats next Sunday meant to be like?

Cheers Ven
Contact juggling is like out of the labyrinth film - where the ball rolls around & over the top of your hands - like David Bowies character (only he doesn't really do it in the film )
It is a really good shot mike, love it.
Thanks Sue
