View Full Version : Opteka lenses
I know that you only get what you pay for but...... Has anyone any experience of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190127620042&rd=1&rd=1 Opteka long lenses?
It seems reasonably priced but I suppose quality is compromised or are they, in fact, a good, manual lens?
Any comments appreciated.
David.
Im pretty sure that that will be a mirror lens. If you like do-nut shaped patterns in your bokeh it could be the lens for you! Also, the max aperture will be f8 I think, even less when stopped down.

You'll be able to spot Beagle2 with that thing!

I did read on another forum somewhere the other year, someone had bought one for a laugh on a Canon fit.
Apparently it wasn't quite as awful as you would expect but obviously still a bit ropey. :D
Possibly a good alternative to digiscoping with a pair of binoculars maybe?

I've been having a dig around and here are a couple of quotes...
.."think some of the glowing reviews are from people that sell these, they are ok at best, you might get cool shots of wildlife because it brings you close, it definately will not be high quality, cheap is cheap, please don't get one of these thinking you'll work for national geographic if you do".
..."F16 at the long end. You'd need to nail the birds to the post to use that"!!

Think I'll give it a miss
Thanks OG
David.
Has anyone tried the Opteka lenses for point and shoots? I've seen a fisheye lens by them which would fit my new Canon A720IS...
