Have you got a photo of them you can post?

Edit: obviously ignore this

If you can light it well I think the red would give a good contrast with (I am guessing) a white wedding dress. I would be more worried about the rather dark picture in the background :( Might loose some hair and black suits in that, also watch for the frame sticking out of peoples heads.

Personally (and I dont have much experience myself, but have watched my dad take hundreds of wedding photos) I would Take a couple of shots of the bride and groom on maybe the second step up, one arm in arm, one looking at each other, one pretending to walk down the stairs (maybe). Maybe erm...Bride on bottom step groom a few further up with a very shallow depth of field (f5.6 or something) so you have sharp bride with soft groom looking at her adoringly, and then maybe the reverse.

But back to the question, I wouldnt worry about the stairs they look pretty nice to me, just try and get as much light as you can in there, bounce you flash off the ceiling or something as shadows will show up with so many edges and the white wall behind them.

Hope that helps and isnt just useless woffle :p

If its really going to be an issue, just selectively desaturate it a little afterwards. Tom is right though - the picture offers more of a challenge.....

Sponge tool, set to desaturate. Should do you ok.

I would also say you could desaturate the red channel but that might turn the guests a bit pale/green

Personally I'd say its probably a really nice carpet and with whites and blacks it would look very nice.

Yep, if anything I'd say it's the white balance which is off. Mix of tungsten lighting and flash?

Also, it's not looking too saturated here, is your monitor calibrated properly?

I'm with dod, WB is out but in general doesn't look overly saturated to me. Colour picked the worst area and only got a sat. level of around 200...

Here's a quick test of monitor calibration.

You should be able to see a difference between the 2 darkest and 2 lightest shades in the top boxes and in the lower ones squint slightly and you shouldn't see any difference in brightness between the inner and outer sections.
