Not a bad set for a first timer!
I'd have been tempted to try and isolate the band a touch more - get in a little closer, keep the backgrounds dark, and possibly bump the ISO a touch to keep things sharp. These aren't always practical OR desireable though.
Hey, if you're ever near London, you're welcome to come and practise on my band - no-one has got a decent shot of me yet!
Cheers,
James

as for getting closer when the light had dropped enough to be consistent enough to be any good the crowd where bouning about like there lives depended on it .. i was going nowhere near them with my kit :naughty:
They look ok to me, I did my first gig last month and I'm doing another one this month, so I can sympathise about the crowd and stuff, although the one thing that I will be most mindful of next time I do a gig is the microphones...I just didn't give them a second thought until I got all of the images onto my pc and discovered that the peoples faces were all hidden by the microphones and couldn't even be cloned out...but its all about learning and i think that you have done a good job!
Interested to know which lens you used.....
David.
Not bad for your first go. The compositions a bit off on some with mic's blocking faces and things. Gigs are tricky. If you've got spot metering use that or your camera will try and meter for a very dark room so you have to use M to get nice shots.
#1 for me too Dave.
It is an odd feeling isnt it, shooting the first gig.
My first & only try with gig photography using a DSLR was at Cat Daddy's Skinny Molly gig.
I did enjoy it though and would love to do it again.
Btw, who are the band?

well done
Hey MonkeyDave,
These arn't bad. I have to say (and I mentioned it to petemc, although he does it all the time) I'm in a band playing backing some named 60's performers, and I have seen really bad pictures compared to these, by people that claim they are photographers. Just hope none of them are on here.
