i like using natural light to take pics of people, but so far havnt managed to do many portrait type shots. i would like some tips please on improving this area of my photography, and also some crit on this shot please :)

Your lighting is subtle and works well. The focus could have been sharper for me. I am not sure about the blue eyes, they are disturbing.

I think it's a really nice natural light shot, but I just find the blue eyes a gimmick which the shot doesn't need. ;)

thanks, fair comment about the eyes the kids seem to like this but i have posted one without the blue eyes and a colour one as well

I like both of them (the second ones you posted). The natural light is great and your model looks relaxed. IMO, eye contact in both would have changed them from good, to great.

2nd b&w one for me, really well taken portrait - perfectly framed too.
Not sure on the colour version myself - think that eye contact would have improved it though & I'd have gotten rid of the curtain line in the background IMO.
Very nicely taken portraits overall though furball, lighting is very subtle & looks very well controlled :thumbs:
