These are from my camping trip this weekend, they are longer then 800 on the long side so I have linked them from my Flickr account. They include my first attempts at long exposures, honest opinions please. ;)

4) Red Admiral (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1349/754095665_c7048b342c_b.jpg)

I've taken a look! but all I've got is my crappy laptop screen so the darks look way to dark on the first but I don't know if that is the pic or just me.

There's so much activity that you need to post up at least clickable thumbnails if not the photo. Lots of us me included dont have the time/inclination to surf links.... sad but true.

Anyway..

1 - too dark no details. Try again.
2 - oooh nice, would be an exelent desktop backround, shame there's nothing at the
bottom like a tree silouette
3 - its a rose and it's yellow. Leaves to top left are distracting, look sharper/more defined than the rose.
4 - not bad, but the DOF fades to the top (left) wing
5 - needs a crop, maybe a perspective adjustment, some levels and USM. Maybe even HDR or selective desat

Thanks for replies folks, even bad comments give me an idea where i need to change things.

No 1 was taken at around midnight, 30 Sec @ F5.6, When you say no detail i would assume you are talking about the lower area. Any suggestions on getting more detail into those kind of shots? I have to admit, I was pleased with how it came out.

In reply about number one, try it again but this time point to an area with more lights - like street lights, house windows, etc etc. The 30sec you used is ok but there is nothing much there to show no matter how long the exposure.

Apart from that, I like the rose picture and the Abbey.
