We went out for a very long drive yesterday.
The intention was to head to Yorkshire and find some nice water.

1) The clouds as we left Kirton, Lincs were all like
this and the sky was full of them!

2) Just past the Yorkshire border and we were hit with a sudden hard
downpour. At one point every single car stopped dead in the road
because you just couldn't see in front of you!

3) Cow Wath Bek, in the lowest part of the road and the railway line
to the left of you... just before you go up again and turn to
Goathland (not sure if anyone knows where I mean?)
Oh, and we went through Goathland and I spotted a couple of
photographers at the side of the road, was it anyone here?

4) Another of Cow Wath Bek

I took plenty more pics between there and the return trip home along
toward Hull, but I wasn't really satisfied with any of those until we hit Hull, so...

5) The Humber Bridge

Then a pink/purple poppy field a bit further along. I'm not 100% satisfied
with these either. So since there are reported to be a lot of these fields
around this year for medicinal growth, I think we will go out and find
another with more poppies still in bloom at some point.

I think they are all very good indeed, especially the shot of the wet motorway.

Well done.

Good story :) I really like shot 7. I hate it when you get rain like that on the motorway :( almost had a nasty accident once as we hit a sudden wall of rain in the outside lane so the car infront does an emergancy stop, must have been mm from hitting her.

I hate rain like that. Not for lack of being able to drive in it comfortably...it's driving in it with others that scares me; there are just too many nutters out there, who think it's fine to plough along at 80mph even though they can't see.

We had some rain like that on the way down to Norfolk last week, it wasn't so bad to make the traffic stop dead though.

On a side note, went through your town last monday too! If I'd have known you were from there, I would have scheduled a coffee break in the journey :D

Number 2 has to be my pick of the bunch from your shots. I love the perspective and angle / lines that the road creates, and the pp treatment youve given it works really well.

That would be followed closely by number 6. Quite a simply executed shot, and done superbly IMO. The sky could do with a little more contrast to add to the drama. It feels a little washed out at the moment :)

Marcel I just replied to your tractor thread! I bet you went right past my house then if you came actually through Kirton  small world

Well we took a52, planning to stay on it, until it hit the a17, and we would then turn right to head towards kings lynn.

But you don't see to have normal roads down there. Straight on usually takes you (as I found out ;)) along other roads instead...lol So we ended up going all the way up into Boston, then turned right, onto the A16 and back down to the A17.

I love the poppies and the Humber Bridge, it's not too far from me but I've never photographed it, but my favourite of these is No 3 Cow Wath Bek
